THESAURUS LINGUAE GRAECAE (TLG)

Maria Padelia is a Greek woman who left Athens 27 years ago and lives in California. She works as a professor at the University of Irvine and since 1996 she is in charge of the program “Thesaurus Linguae Graecae” (TLG). It can identify each and every Greek word in the context using the help of a computer.

TLG is a program of digitization of all Greek texts since antiquity. In 1972, a student at the University of California, Marianne McDonald, financed the program and the Institute started to work. Today umpteen texts have already been digitized from Homer until the capture of Constantinople. The effort is huge and currently more texts are being examined.

All data is availble online at: http://www.tlg.uci.edu/.

There are 105 million Greek Words, 3.962 writers and about 15.000 texts.
